Polyester filling for toys
Black safety eyes x 2 – size 7mm

2sc increase (crochet 2 single crochet stitches into the same stitch)
2tog decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
BLO (crochet 1 single crochet stitch into the back loops only)
F/O (finish off)
Work in continuous spiral, do not turn or join, unless stated otherwise

EGGPLANT (colour – Violet (94))
1) Magic ring, 6sc (6)
2) 2sc in each stitch (12)
3) 1sc, 2sc – repeat to the end of row (18)
4) 1sc in next 2 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (24)
5) 1sc in next 3 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (30)
6) 1sc in next 4 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (36)
7) 1sc in next 5 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (42)
8-13) 1sc in each stitch for 6 rows (42)
14) 1sc in next 12 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (39)
15) 1sc in each stitch (39)
Insert safety eyes between rows 11 – 12, within a distance of 6 holes (count holes between the stitches). Stuff with polyester filling.
16) 1sc in next 11 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (36)
17) 1sc in each stitch (36)
18) 1sc in next 4 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (30)

F/O and hide remaining thread into the eggplant.
Now, using needle and a piece of ‘Candyfloss’ (pink) yarn, make cheeks.
LEAVES – x 5 (colour – Apple (016))
1) Magic ring, 6sc (6)
2) 1sc in each stitch (6)
3) 1sc, 2sc – repeat to the end of row (9)
4) 1sc in next 2 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (12)
5) 1sc in each stitch (12)
6) 1sc in next 2 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (9)
7) 1sc, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (6)
8) 2tog to the end.
DON'T stuff with polyester filling. F/O leaving longer tails for sewing.
Attach to the top of the eggplant, next to each other (there shouldn’t be any space between the leaves).
STALK (colour – Apple (016))
1) Magic ring, 5sc (5)
2) 2sc in each stitch (10)
3) 2sc in each stitch (20)
4) 1sc in each BLO (20)
5) 1sc in next 8 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (18)
6) 1sc in each stitch (18)
F/O leaving longer tail for sewing.
Stuff with polyester filling.
Attach the stalk to the top, where leaves already are (to make sewing easier, use space between the leaves and attach the stalk directly to the eggplant first; next, sew it to the leaves).
