Size:

  • 12cm / 4.72 inch in height

Tools:

  • crochet hook size 3.00 mm

  • scissors

  • needle

  • craft pins

Materials:

  • Stylecraft Special DK – Camel (1420), 100% Acrylic, 100g

  • Kingcole Pricewise DK – Amber (3207), 100% Acrylic, 100g

  • Polyester filling for toys

  • Black safety eyes x 2 – size 7mm

Skills required / abbreviations / info:

  • Magic ring (crochet specified number of single crochet stitches into the adjustable loop)

  • Sc - single crochet

  • 2sc - increase (crochet 2 single crochet stitches into the same stitch)

  • 2tog - decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)

  • BLO - (crochet 1 single crochet stitch into the back loops only)

  • F/O - finish off

  • Work in continuous spiral, do not turn or join, unless stated otherwise

  • Sewing parts together

BUTTERNUT SQUASH (colour - Camel (1420))

1) Magic ring, 6sc (6)

2) 2sc in each stitch (12)

3) 1sc, 2sc – repeat to the end of row (18)

4) 1sc in next 2 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (24)

5) 1sc in next 3 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (30)

6-19) 1sc in each stitch for 14 rows (30)

20) 1sc in next 4 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (36)

21) 1sc in next 11 stitches, then 2sc in next stitch – repeat to the end of row (39)

22-29) 1sc in each stitch for 8 rows (39)


Insert safety eyes between rows 25 – 26, within a distance of 6 holes (count holes between the stitches). Stuff with polyester filling.


30) 1sc in next 11 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (36)

31) 1sc in next 4 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (30)

32) 1sc in next 3 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (24)

33) 1sc in next 2 stitches, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (18)

34) 1sc, then 2tog – repeat to the end of row (12)

35) 2tog to the end – alternatively, F/O this row with needle; see free tutorial HERE (click on the link or go to free TUTORIALS section)


F/O and hide remaining thread into the butternut squash.


TOP (colour - Amber (3207))

1) Magic ring, 5sc (5)

2) 2sc in each stitch (10)

3) 1sc in each BLO (10)

4) 1sc in each stitch (10)


F/O leaving longer tail for sewing. Stuff with polyester filling.

Attach to the top of the butternut squash, where rows 1 – 2 are.
