Tools & Materials

  • Crochet hook size 3.0mm

  • Black safety eyes x 2 – size 6 mm

  • Polyester Craft Filling for toys

  • Tapestry needle and craft pins

  • Scissors

  • Stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end of a round

Yarn

  • Orange (Stylecraft Special DK, Spice (1711), 100% Acrylic, 100g)

  • Green (Robin DK, Apple (016), 100% Acrylic, 100g)


Skills required / abbreviations / info

  • MG – magic ring (make specified number of single crochet stitches into the loop)

  • Sc – single crochet

  • Inc – 2sc increase (crochet 2 single crochet stitches into the same stitch)

  • Dec – 2tog decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)

  • BLO back loop only (crochet 1 single crochet stitch into the back loops only)

  • Sl st – slip stitch

  • F/O – finish off

  • R – spiral round 

  • ( )* – repeat the sequence in brackets to the end of the round

  • (12) – number of stitches expected at the end of the round

  • Work in spiral rounds, do not turn/join unless stated otherwise

Insert safety eyes between rows 14 – 15, within a distance of 6 holes (count holes between the stitches). Stuff with polyester filling. When completed, F/O and hide remaining thread into the body.

Close with sl st., F/O leaving longer tail for sewing. Fold bottom of the leaf and using needle sew together to create crease. Sew to the stalk where rows 2 – 3 are.
